A nice mid century (approx 1960’s) oil on board by the well listed French artist Charles Benard. Signed lower front left. The loose impressionist style is influenced by alpine artists such as Joseph Communal and Charles Henri Contencin. The scene is a view of alpine chalets with towering mountain peaks beyond. Likely in the Mont Blanc area of the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps. Charles Benard painted a number of alpine landscapes in this region notably avoiding the larger peaks and focussing on smaller but equally impressive lower peaks such as this.
